Compelled to Shoot

There was no doubt in my mind that I should photograph Claudia hanging on the wall, four stories above the ground. Why?

I asked for permission to shoot the close up. I had to reach over the wall above and put the cell phone in her face. I felt anxious. I had always thought I could never photograph people in settings other than the traditional friends and family sort. I did it this time.

mr. dunn: i was wondering.. if this was just "happenig" while you walked by , who are the artists responsible for such an instalation/performance piece , and shouldn't you credit them?

Regarding...was this just happening when you walked by:

This was just happening when I walked by. I was a casual observer in a public location who came upon the incident. I was very interested in how compelling the scene became and asked, “What is it that demanded that I take photographs?”

I will try to run down the information regarding the artist.

These photographs remind me to consider what is not there as much as what is there. They are traces of things, reminders of things, the space between things. As web-based images they are ephemera about the ephemeral.
